I'm kinda' new at all this "chicken hatchin'"stuff, but I'm not new to farmin....don't I need a Rooster before I start thinkin' bout a "bator?

Geebs, this weather is GREAT! Look at all those poor people in the mid west and east coast - flagardengirl being the exception that proves the rule - . Snow, Snow, Snow...and they are going to get more all next week while we get another week of dry 50's weather!
I haven't paid any attention to the weather in France - I always felt that French people were kinda' "stuffy", if ya know what I mean.
But back to our beloved Marans...did someone say something about "culls" a couple of posts back? Now Pinkchick already has my phone # and she knows that I am just a couple of miles ( O.K.-25 miles) away and that I'll be at her beck and call. Don't go giving her any funny ideas....

Anyone have trouble hatching the really big eggs? Most sources say not to select the largest eggs for hatching.

I can report that my BHB girls lay a good size egg... they are older (3)

The first ones are in the 'bator.....I am going to keep a few depending on hatch and then since no one has stepped up to the plate (the person that asked me to hatch them for them...

...I think I am going to start requesting a small deposit if they ask me specifically to hatch chicks for them instead of them hatching eggs) looks like they are going to Mel.

I put a few more in and I will be putting a few more in today after all eggs are laid for the day. I'm sure to get some babies that I can't part with between now and then.

JEALOUS.. !!!!!!!! Mel plays nice though... Debbi is farther away... and Mel will be overrun with chickens shortly.... I know how chicken math works... and it is worse with marans.
