How sweet Kim......I wish I could count on that but I have never had them raise their own. I have always incubated the eggs & raised them in brooders except for the escape artist hen that kept jumping the fence but her hubby was too chubby & couldn't get out like she did so she raised them as a single Mom......LOL

I sent you some eggs from a Davis Splash hen and a Davis BCM pullet who are both in with Bill. I also have one of his 1st gen. Blue Copper half Davis dtrs (the one with feathered shanks), I sent a couple of her eggs too. The rest of the eggs are from Gnarles pen, there is a Blue Copper hen, Blue Copper pullet and one of Bill's other 1st gen half Davis dtrs (clean shanked and the biggest blue girl from him) and 7 Black Copper pullets. Ohhhh and little "baby Blue" Bill's 4 mos. old dtr that I am growing out. She grew up with the Delaware girls and is just as super oooooobbbbbeeeerrrr friendly as they are. She sat on my knee last night while I was filling their feeder, just watching what I was doing.

Hello from SW Wa ( Vancouver). I have a mixed flock of free ranging chickens and amongst the group a favorite is "goofy", a Cuckoo Maran that I am sure is hatchery bred to her roots. A broody machine, she and I have sat and visited a lot when she would venture out from her nest all hungry in the early morning and telling me all about it. I am wanting to connect with Maran breeders in my area to either get some show quality birds or hatching eggs.

The Nov 2010 hatch a month ago

MARANS

Did the broody hatch all those chicks ? ? ?

There are a lot of breeders out there in the WASHINGTON area - - -

Pinkchick and Geebs to name just a couple.

Thank you for the welcome and yes, she hatched them all (16) the week before Thanksgiving. Now 3 mos old they are like a roving pack of teenagers

I don't know when I will have eggs or chicks, I have many many folks waiting for both, if you want to PM me your contact info. I would definately get in touch with you when available. I could probably come up with something.

There's also CreeFarms up north (I believe Cree has Black Copper and Blue Copper) and another great guy up north and his BYC handle is Nivtup, he has Wheaten's Marans.

Your broody is a good girl!!! 16 chicks!
