Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Nice babies VC. Love the long backs on the second and third pic. The whites are very pretty. I'm afraid to run white chickens here. It would be like sounding the dinner bell for the hawks and eagles!

We had 6 full grown Bald Eagles out here the other day. Beautiful to watch them soar, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want them feasting in my backyard!

These all came out of eggs I hatched from a ebay order that I hatched earlie winter. So they are close to 5 months know.

not sure if this is the hen or the rooster I have two like this that are very simlar only one has saddle back feather and one does not.

I like the 2 bottom ones more because I like the featheres shanks and the darker black with small white spots here and there. They were all supposed to be cuckoo marans but not 100% postive they are. let me know what you think. The last two pictures are not the best but I will try and find some better ones.

I got 4 black copper hens some had better shank feathers then others. One I just noticed today actually has a spur but is is defently a hen has anyone ever had a black copper hen with what looks to be a spur?
