Dh wants to know how many birds you have that need to be vaccinated and how old are they ?

If we do all the adults there are 23, and 2 fully feathered chicks over 5 weeks for chickens- I need to go out again and do another count, just go back from vaccation and hope the number's the same as when I left..

Here is a link to the Jefferssupply fowl pox - - adult version.Chicks 6 weeks and older can take it.

So, you won't need to vaccinate your group twice. Just order a bottle of the adult vaccine.
Add on an Ice Pak and an insulated cooler to keep it cold.

Here is the link to first state vet supply. You will need to add on an insulated cooler. It cost more for the cooler and vaccine, but I DON'T THINK they charge additional shipping whereas Jeffers supply does charge additional shipping.

When you get the vaccine in, we will set up a time / date to come over.
When we did our older flock . . . . We went though and plucked the feathers out in the appropriate spot FIRST. We did this for everyone.
Then we went back and caught everyone and gave them their vaccine one at a time. We did it like a little assmebly line. . .
The kids caught them, I held them, Dh stuck them with needle and another child released the chickens.
We let them free range after we were done . . . that way we knew we got everyone when there were no more chickens in the coop.

You have to be organized because you only have a couple of hours to use the vaccine. ESPECIALLY now that our day temps are in the 90's.
If you think you are going to be getting any more chicks this year . . . I would go ahead and order a bottle of the chick vaccine and a second bottle of the adult vaccines. . . . .

Let me know what you think of the Cocci vaccine. I just got done dealing with cocci in two batches of chicks. First time this has ever happened to me and I have hatched out tons of chicks. I had two die one from each group. I have them on medication and they are better now, Thank goodness. It might be worth it to vaccinate new chicks for this.

Teeheehee!

Boy, it's quiet in here this morning.

Ordered my aprons for the girls. They should really appreciate the protection...that is after the stink eye phase passes!

They will NOT be amused, but as hot as it's getting, I don't need fried chicken backs.

Day 19 here in the bator, no noise yet. Got one of those purpleish bloom eggs in there, hope that one hatches, but no one seems to be able to get them to hatch? Keep your fingers crossed for me guys, this has, so far, been an uneventful incubation.

Heehee...if you look in the background of the photo I posted of my roo in the other thread you can see my girls aprons. I found black ones with silver glitter that sport skulls/crossbones with pink bows LOL. They are soooooo much happier, even if they did act like I was murdering them when I put them on.

I just bought a GQF 1550 for $150.

I wasn't going to spend that money right now, but when I went to put 15 eggs in lockdown this morning I discovered that ALL of them were dead!

My little incubator does not hold a constant temp very well.

I had a temp spike about 10 days ago or so, and I'm sure that is when they quit developing because they had all started.

The GQF I bought is a hatcher. I think I will order the turning trays and use it for both incubating and hatching. Or who knows.... maybe I'll find another incubator........
