Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Pink- I know what it's like to carry shingles up a ladder. I've done it... THIRTY YEARS AGO!

Blue Butt is a pretty boy.

Fuglee. Well.... what can one say?

Funny names. I have a rooster named Rumpy.... because he doesn't have one. He has the prettiest head, face, comb and wattles. If you look at the other end, you'd think he backed into a buzz saw or something. Ridiculous looking guy. I won't use him for breeding. I had him in a cage for a while, but he looked so sad in there he now has full run of the INSIDE of the barn. If he goes outside the other rooster kicks his butt. Actually, they don't... because he doesn't have one. They whop his a$$. No. That doesn't work either. Let's just say he doesn't win any fights.

My husband has started feeling sorry for him now and gives him treats and babies him. It's nice to have a kind hearted hubby.

Wasn't interested in hatching any of Fug's babies. Did hatch one as an experiment, born shrink wrapped worse than Fugs, so was culled. Now the three week olds may have some of Fug's leftover soldiers, ahem, as they are looking to me more like the first clutch than anything Roy or Clyde might produce. The new chick who is just here since Saturday, I would bet is a Clyde baby.

Debbi~ I can't wait to see JR, I am very glad he is getting nice copper.

My Lil' Bill looks pathetic...looks like a 4 year old got to him for their first hair cutting experiment around his hackles....but man I tell you the amount of copper coming in on him is AWESOME!!!! He is actually getting quite the good amount of copper in all the respective areas. I am very happy about that.

Here's the busy little bugger, sorry not the best photo as he was busy chasing bugs yesterday.

And just because Bill wanted to say Good Morning.

Yes, I have the 3 girls from that hatch; Pretty, Precious, and Beaut. They all lay a 5+ - 6 colored egg, and jumbo size! Beaut was born almost all black, and is the only girl with sparse shank feathers.

I add it to whatever I am feeding and the amount I use is a pound to a small metal trashcan... Not the giant ones... Or until it smells thick with spice and is tinged yellow... If you are going to use this on showbirds make sure you don't do it close to a show as it turns their feathers yellow!!

I use it day one... I also add cinnamon and DE.

I had some birds shipped and I got them on it right away and their combs are bright pink now... so that is the update for all you guys... Babies are back to good... They still think it is too cold here.. go figure... (gotta keep em in the house for now)

I think I might have accidentaly loaded 2 of the same pic here...Anyway, these too very-poorly taken pics are of the Splash Roo that I got from Pinkchick this past winter that she will be getting back. He is really going through a growth stage right now. I think he might end up bigger than Madison.
