How old is he? Is it the whole tail or a stray sickle feather? Pics would be helpful. Usually if it's high, it will stay that way, contributed by a shorter back...sorry.
Well last time we checked he was 4 weeks old at the big FL meet.
I had my guys out for a bit of an evaluation today and decided to snap some photos. They are in the ugly teen phase unfortunately, they've got mostly baby feathers, with the odd bit of fluff here and there. they were hatched april 25th which makes them a bit over 5 weeks... So lots of growing yet to do! excuse their toes, they are all straight, it was my bed liner, and my dog was walking around so some of them are "posed" weird lol
The boys!
big comb boy~ he doesn't always stand like that lol
splash roo~ he's one i'm keeping a close eye on
dark blue roo~ seriously beefy!had fleeting hopes he was a hen, then he crowed this morning, or tried to lol.
another splash roo, no middle toe feathering
another splash roo but has a bit of feathering on the middle toe
The girls!
nice dark feather legged blue hen, seriously beefy, lost her tail though
same beefy girl from above
another dark blue feather legged hen
last but not least a clean legged splash gal.
So all 3 hens will be staying and i will have lots of roos to pick from!
Thanks
Sib
Good Morning Everyone! Hope everybody is doing great! Would love to stick around and chicken chat but this is a very busy time for us, especially with the girls graduating this weekend.
Happy Birthday Ivy! Hope you have a very special day!
Mel~ I am so happy about this heat wave, you just don't even know!
Shesaredroan and Debbi~ Congratulations on your chickies!
Fire~ I don't think he is overmelanized at all. I like his colors. Tall is a little too high as you suspected and I don't believe that it will change, but try breeding him over a hen that has a lower tail set and see what happens with the offspring. Can't hurt anything to try.
Sib~ They are pretty! Roo #3 is my favorite so far, love them chunky chicks. You can just pack up all these little blues and just mail them to me if you find that someday you just can't stand them anymore.
Is that little splash girl showing any random blue feathers at all? In the photo she looks plain white.
