Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Just looking back over hdowdens rooster, I noticed the wing triangle.....do you see the positive wheaten influence, the cinnamon in the wing triangle?

BTW: As Spurs grow the kinda "break through" the end, the longer they get the longer the tissue (I guess you could think of it like the root of the nail and the very end of it much like the quick of our nails) in the center of it gets, the razor sharp little points that break through are like what grows past the quick of our nails and yes they can wear them down or they can wear on roosts but they will get sharp and to me seem like they are at their sharpest right after they break through or grow out. Like Gilavina posted before, this variety is rare and will need work no matter who the breeder is.
No harm was meant by my previous comments. As a matter of record, my comments were very sedate and respectful . . . Ask for more photos, get close ups or both sides of the comb, and he looks narrow in the photo.
My intention was not to put anyone on the "spot which is why I offered to be PM. I apologize if I did unintentionally.
You guys are so much more knowledgeable with this breed that I feel blessed to have you guys as a "sounding board". Thank you all for your honest and constructive criticism. I appreciate your time and opinions.

Thats what I am thinking she mixed has mixed in with her flock. Because when I called her she said she does have some that lay lighter colored eggs. But I cant be sure because she did should me a few darker eggs when I picked them up originally. Good news is she is going to buy the back. Phew!

I want birds that can lay nicely colored eggs from start to finish or as close as they can throughout their lay cycle.
Oh and I will use a girl that lays lighter (not lighter than a #4 though) for breeding if she have something else of good quality that they can lend to the next generation.
