haha I expect updates on your hatch lady!! Did you just leave all your eggs in for lock down or did you candle and remove some? Just curious
In my next batch is some coronation sussex eggs...they haven't been fertile so far...I think the boy was not doing his job...he seems to fancy some of the girls in another pen by him....so I'm giving it another go to see.... this boy is just a beast and a half...he's bigger than my mini aussie by a long shot. I also have more eggs from the pen with my alternate BCM roo and my best black and blue coppers, some more birchens, and some from where Gigantor and Big Boy, and a few more cuckoos. I need to start collecting from some of my other pens here over the next week or two, but have been waiting for the girls to clear...so probably after this next batch will be b/b/s wyandottes from two pens, columbian large and bantam wyandottes, SLWs, silver penciled wyandottes, coronation, light, and lavender birchen sussex as well.

Tomorrow is lockdown for the Wheatens, so I will try to candle them. I don't hold out much hope of seeing anything though, the shells are too dark for my flashlight. I do it anyway, and if they look all dark, in they go!

The 11 Showgirl eggs looked so lonely in the bator, I just threw in 10 more Silkie eggs from pen 2 (BBS and White). Any Partridges that sprout from that hatch will be sold!!! They've only been seperated by color for a week, so it's likely to happen. I would really love to have more Whites and Splash!

Thanks for the info everyone. I do have to amend my statement from earlier, the bird is not perfect, as there is no "perfect" bird. I forgot, his tail is too high, but otherwise he IS pretty nice, and I was told he came from a very dark egg. I will TRY to get some pictures up maybe tomorrow when this weather clears. Oh yeah, is anyone selling eggs or chicks from their blue or blue copper hens? I have a decent blue copper roo that I'd love to get some hens for. I saw someone had eggs for sale on ebay and here that had an awwwesome looking blue hen......except for the fact that she had a sprig or a carnation....so that was out.....and I'll try to get pics of him too, cause he's kinda pretty

Hi all! I am hoping to find some hatching eggs from very dark lines. I am more interested in egg color than the birds themselves fitting a standard since I wouldn't show them. I have tried to read though this thread because I am sure this has been addressed many times, but after 45 mins I have given up! Can someone direct me to a good breeder?

I TOO thought two legged predator while reading Lenette's post ~ so sad.

Pink, Thanks for the kind words for my lil one, she's quite the trooper, antibiotics for now and they pull the tooth next week (when DH is home, yay!) why does this stuff always happen when he's away? It's no small miracle that no one's vomitting, that's their usual plan.

I decided to cull my boy with the white toe feathering, I really needed to down size. Today was my first trip to the butcher with my own birds, I was a bit traumatized ~ still am. I had a weird experience when I was there, kinda freaked me out. I picked up 'take~out' for dinner, nixing my idea of roasted chicken. DS is calling the birds by name and asking who we should eat first. Apparently he is unscathed, I guess it's better than the other way around. I'm sure I'll get over it.

One of my BCM girls is doing the squat and letting the boys breed her, does this mean there are eggs somewhere I'm missing? She is only 15 weeks old, could she really be laying?

I bought 4 chicks that were supposed to be black copper marans. I have never had this breed before but they just don't seem right to me. Maybe their true feathers will come in. I didn't think they had any white on them. They also have feathered legs if that helps and 4 toes. They are approximately 3 weeks old. Here is one of them. Also any clue what the red spot on the side of its face is? Been there since we got it and it looks like its the feather color.

That is funny! My smilies are not working.....(insert head banger thing)

No worries - the babies have a "tuxedo" look to them - white/yellow on their faces and yellow chest/belly/bum

No idea about the red spot...mine have all been black and white
