I still have my Black Coppers mixed with everyone else...I have been getting a speckled/ light but getting darker egg lately, and wasnt sure if it was a Black Copper - since it was so light, I was actually hoping it WASNT - but I saw the young hen laying in the bucket, and she IS a Black Copper. The eggs are improving in color now, so I thought I'd take a pic...I'm still not jumping for joy, but we'll see if it continues to improve. I have 3 teens, I hope she's the only one laying yet? Here are four eggs, one Blue Ameraucana, one Welsummer, One of the new Black Coppers, and one Danish Brown Leghorn.

Don't feel bad. I have a copper black that doesn't even lay as dark as a welsummer. Some of my second generation girls are starting to get pinkish tinge to their puny wattles. I HOPE they start to lay in a couple months! (and I hope they are decent colored. I would be happy with the color of either of the eggs you posted.)

This is a pic of my very first Black Copper Marans eggs from the "Jesse's Girls". They are 24 weeks old today. I'm so excited!
I have more pics but for some reason it won't let me upload even though it's from the very same batch

Well, now Tina I think that third egg looks great. It's dark and red and has a beautiful coating (not mat but glowy).

I have to say, I'd be very happy with it, however I know you have already been raising Marans and producing Cuckoo eggs so you have seen many eggs.
There are a lot of doctored BCM egg pics out on the Internet so I just totally ignore those and try to pay attention to what people are posting on this thread and some of the pics on the forums that are very clearly natural pictures. I think most of the good pullet eggs I am seeing are maybe a 5 to 6 on the scale and have a very reddish tone. Richard (Marans Guy) had some this fall that looked darker than that, but I haven't seen many others that did.

Dena, those are great looking Cuckoos!

Do you sell or trade eggs? I need a feather leg Roo!

I have clean legged Cuckoos and Jeane Black Copper Marans.

AngelzFyre, those are really nice eggs! With the weather we've had, your lucky they're not floating or frozen!
