If it weren't for the leg feathers and extra toes, I'd be guessing mille fleur rose combed leghorn. Maybe leghorn plus D'Uccle?

As for making mf Marans......how about this roo plus a Columbian Marans? Of course, that would require FINDING a Columbian Marans....hmmm....how about red-tailed black Marans?

Pictures from today of the Funny Farms Trio

I decided today to take my oldest trio of bcs outside for the first time to forage and what not with me watching. Luckily I didnt trust them out there by themselves. We weren't out there more than 5 minutes and my pullet Scoot makes that "ah i see something above!"purr noise and I notice a shadow I look up and its a redtailed hawk! It swooped over my head, and I assume at the last second it realized not only was there three chicks, but also a HUMAN with them. That would have hurt really bad being hit by a hawk, let alone the heartache of one of my chicks being taken or killed.

However NOTHING bad happened, and the rest of the half hour went on well they throughly enjoyed themselves and were pretty comical to watch

Enjoy the picture show!

lol!

I agree chicken pile!!! Also, they say "breeds like rabbits" well when ya think about it, if you've ever bred rabbits (purebred show rabbits) you realize very fast that chickens are way more productive than rabbits ever are... I raised rabbits for two years, probably only produced about 20 kits (babies) total. I've hatched WAY more birds than that so far... LOL....hundreds infact....and i've only been hatching about 6 months! LOL!

I didn't even know it was a double yolker. It was kinda big, compared to her usual eggs, but it was very nicely shaped, not all long and skinny, and I have a Blue and a Splash marans that lay eggs like that every day, so I just figured it was a big one. Then I sorta dropped it the last several inches by accident when I was putting it in the basket with the rest of the eggs and it got two good sized dimples cracked into it, so I said fine and just figured I would fry it up and put it over toast... Good call!

Looks like your doing it right Patty... with lots o butter!

That really looks mighty tasty. I gotta go have a fried egg now at 10pm. I kinda like mine with a little bit of bacon grease

call me crazy. I am going to call Donna tomorrow to try and pick up that roo. I hope she will be home.

Very cute chicks monarch! They look just a little younger than mine. Still a little squirly at that age. Mine do not like being handled to much (but I do anyway). They look very happy!
