That's an interesting idea. If no-one else knows perhaps you would let us know.

Well, from what I can tell, it *might* work. I don't even remember where I read about that, but I think it was regarding Barred Rocks. Or maybe I'm just pulling it out of thin air, I dunno.

Anyhoo...y'know how with Cuckoos there are obvious boys, obvious girls, and then the in-betweeners...all of the obvious boys have no stripe, all the obvious girls do, and when I check an in-betweener, if it does have the stripe, then I look and kinda go, "hmmm, yeah, okay, I see it now...it kinda does look more girly than boyish." or vice versa.

Hi Pasofino and Nivtup, I have Gold Cuckoos from both of you and they are definately the most friendly chickens on the farm. They meet me at the door and remind me of a cat trying to rub against my leg!

I have 6 BC roos and none have ever shown the least bit of agression toward me. I can pick up and handle every one, but they are VERY agressive toward each other. I have never been successful in having more than one BC roo in with a group of hens no matter how many hens are present. The roos are very jealous! The hens seem to become upset whens the roos fight.

The BC hens are not as friendly as the GCs, but allow me to pick them up and are very easy to work with. When a hen starts showing agression toward another hen, the roo usually breaks it up.

This is my golden cuckoo I hatched from Melissa. I thought I sexed them at birth and keep the two pullets, but Im second guessing myself now. They hatched Feb 19th, so they're about 9 weeks old right now. Does this look like a girl or boy to you?

Question.

I have eggs in the incubator for 2 different hatch dates. How should I handle this come day 18?

I have the lightest golden cuckoo cockerel I have ever seen... eggs were from bayhorsebonne. Will take pix and post it tomorrow after work, should have some sun instead of rain. With the light coloring, if I cross him with a normal colored golden cuckoo female, what might I expect out of the cross?
