3 chicks (1 cockerel and 2 pullets) in the brooder from on the spot turned 3 weeks old today

got a bunch of eggs in the incubator due on the 10th from Ninjapoodles again YAY!
 
Wheaton Marans
Hatched 5-2-09

Not trying to cause a riot or hurt anyone's feelings but someone has been messing around with the genes because that is not how Wheaten Marans are supposed to look at hatch.

Really? I bought them from a very reputable breeder in TN, and paid $75/doz.
 
I just got some pics of my maturing boy and his girls...he's turning out to be an extremely nice example of a French Copper Black - I'm very pleased!

(oh, he's not actually squirrel-tailed; the wind was blowing from behind)

I pop into this thread now & then, just to see the pictures of everyone's stock - what GORGEOUS birds you all have! Marans just take my breath away.
 
Wheaten Marans 'normally' have plain yellow down at hatch. Wheaten Marans are are wheaten with no other non wild type genes. The dark dorsal stripes you have there indicate that as well as having the wheaten gene there are other non wild type genes present which are not generally present in wheaten Marans.
