Drom~ Yes, those eggs are from my youngest BCM pullets. They're doing a good job, I think I'll keep 'em around.

I have a strange question here....I have cuckoo marans and black coppers. My cuckoo's have been laying a yummy dark egg for a couple of months now, and one of my two black copper pullets have started to lay a little pale pullet egg. Does the BCM start out pale and get darker as she matures? I am floored to get an egg this pale from those girls. It's not even close to the cuckoo egg, and closer to my buff orpingtons!

ETA: well...I think my question has been answered. I am so disappointed. My only consolence is that the other pullet hasn't laid an egg yet and there's still hope....and the fact that the BCM are my kittens.

Not so quick. I have had them lay light and get darker. Usually not the CHERRY dark eggs we all lust over, but good enough... give it a couple months before the boot. You might get a good surprise.

Do you know what line they are from? I had a line that didn't produce the darker eggs till later on...Just kinda depends... It may be they produce a darker egg later... If they are black from a blue line this would not surprise me.
