DROM: I do notice a tinge of cream color in Bruno's current feathers. But, I seriously attribute it to the feed. When the boys were younger, they got DUMOR 24%. And I never noticed any of the creamy coloring or yellowish color. My friend raises White Orps, she has that as an issue for her birds. She has to feed a different feed to the birds she shows. DUMOR has pork as the source of some of the proteins. Now I use Flock Raiser and Layena mixed together. I never noticed till that question. But, I think the feed night have something to do with the Birchens looking Silver then a smutty off cream.

Here are those same eggs outside in daylight just a few minutes ago with no flash. I think these photos are the best representation of their true color.

Oh yay! Thank you for the hope! I know that these are both Ray Valentine and Bev Davis? they're a mixture of those two lines and I got my eggs locally from a reputable source. I'm not really in it for the breeding, I have beautiful dark laying cuckoo's for that, I just enjoy the sweetness of the BCM and a big plus are those dark, dark eggies! I thought maybe I would hatch a few to keep a flock going for myself and to share in a swap locally perhaps...but if they're not going to lay me some darkies, I won't be hatching any of these eggs.

Chicky Tocks and others here is an example of light to darker over a period of 7 days. The egg to the left was laid by my Wheaten Hen 7 days ago and the egg to the right was laid this AM, I add an egg from my BC pullett just for size example as I am getting a double yolker from this hen every other day. She just started laying after taking about two months off. These eggs are huge.

Yep, that first one pretty much looks like what I've got. I have 3 of them actually. My last one might be almost as dark as the second from the left. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Worst case scenario, they go in with my buffs and I continue to enjoy their sweet personalities while eating their eggs.
