That story is so cute! They wanted their momma! You are definitely the mother bird! A real mother hen!

My co-workers know how much my chickens mean to me, and tease me about it sometimes. My nickname is "Mother Clucker"....not to be used at all times though, just a joke

I'm sorry to hear that you were the victim of fraud - It's amazing that these people can just steal someones information like this, and you dont ever feel safe again...Too bad about losing your BYC identity and post history too? Cant the moderators at least put your post numbers back to where they were? They were able to mess around with all that stuff on April 1st!

for your first eggs! Good luck, and I hope they are as dark as chocolate....mmmm chocolate.

I was thinking of asking a moderator if I could get my number back but thought it would be too much trouble. I'll try to pm or email one of them. I guess it can't hurt to ask.

Drom, that was the cutest story ever. Too bad someone wasn't there to take a picture. Maybe it's a Marans trait. Lightning use to do that when he was little. He'd run and jump on me and go straight for my shoulder under my ear/hair when he was scared. He was funny because he was afraid of everything. Neighbor's cat, black crows, helicopters...I hope he's outgrown his fears.

Here are my Marans at 16 weeks. Now I have an egg at 19 weeks. Although the girl on the right looks like her comb is getting red...this morning when I went in to feed one was in the next box and her comb didn't look that red so I figured she was just practicing. But she fooled me and when I went out to check for eggs and the water......there it was!! A beautiful dark brown egg! Woo woo was I happy. I have been holding my breath that their eggs would be dark. For a hatcher chick I think she did well. I do think it was Nova the one on the left that layed it. She has darker feathers than Venus.

Here is the eggs I got today and yesterday. The ones on the left are todays eggs and you can see my lovely egg from Nova. The eggs on the right are sweating because they were in the frig.

Oh that is so funny!!

So someone told me that the Nevada County fair is going this weekend and that the birds are very pretty. I have a Buttercup and the guy who sold her to me said the Buttercups at the fair are beautiful. I wonder if there are any Marans there.? I am assuming not since there is no division for them in any shows?

Never been to the fair before to see chickens though, so I might check it out.
