Well youz guyz, in previous discussions about BC Marans throwing some Wheaties, I've said that I would be absolutely thrilled if I ever hatched some "free" Wheaties...and now, it seems as though that time has come. No pics yet, they're all over the 'bator right now.

There's a chance this little blond peep could be an OE, but I don't think so...I'm pretty sure it just came out of a BCM egg. If it's a Wheatie, that'll save me some money 'cuz I'll just keep getting more eggs from the same source. I don't care about pure genotype, Marans are so messed up as it is, what's the difference?

Kathy, that is wonderful. It feels like they will never lay and then...wha-la a beautiful dark egg. Once one starts laying the rest of the hatch usually start within a few weeks. At least that is how mine did it.

How fun, keep us posted if she lays tomorrow.

I finally got a pair of eggs from Bruno the Birchen and his girls. And they look about like the one in the middle of your pic Kathyinmo. Went into the bator yesterday. Can't wait to see how well Bruno is doing with his new woman.
Today we had a Red Tail Hawk come down and snap the neck of one of Bruno's half Sister's, who live over in the next pen. I heard the fuss, and ran out just mins after. Their pens are in the back of my yard, that is over 100 yards away. Once I got there, Bruno had already busted into the pen with his 1/2 Bro Gorilla Monsoon & their dead sister and they had ran off the Hawk. I make a homemade made gate out of branch between the two pens and NEVER has Bruno gone into that pen till today. I guess 2 Big Marans Roo's with 2 inch spurs were able to hold their own. Sad to loose a big healthy girl, pretty cool to know how good a boys my little men are. Anyone else ever have a Red Tail get run off like that?

Same here Kathy. Sorry to hear that Hawk ate some of your baby. I at least will get a meal. I heard them fussin for a while. Boy I wish I had a camera on them and that Hawk. Would have been a site to be seen. Both of my boys are no slouches when it comes to fightin. That is why their named after ALLTIME OLD SCHOOL WRESTLERS. And they lived up to their names today.

well i wish y'all where here at the show in Newnan GA... y'all are really missing out lol... Bev Davis is here, Dick Dickerson, Sue, Donna, Eric, Jeff, and about 20 others from the club... Charles Logan is supost to be here tomorrow so is Channing Grisham and Wade Jean... and he is showing birds lol... im having a blast
