I get eggs with that coating on them from my BCMs and not from my Cuckoos.

Newsflash here!

I got my first dark egg today!

Isn't it just

I was in the coop, cleaning up. This little Blue Marans (24 wks old) snooped around a bit, very quietly. She then jumped up on the nest and layed the egg, without so much as a whimper!

When she finished she jumped down and went back outside. Never heard a peep from the little girl!

Can you tell I'm so excited?

I hope I get another one tomorrow, so I can make an omelet!

great egg but 24 weeks is quick , thats the great part , my wheatens took 11 months

Agreed, very nice Katy. I like speckledy eggs too!

And that pink one is also really nice.

I wish I had a pink or mauve layer.
