I sell hatching eggs from time to time but they are usually not shipped because I keep a very small flock (too many other breeds going on) but am working on increasing my flock to atleast 25 birds by this coming spring so I can ship further. I have only ever shipped my Marans eggs once and not too far from home as it takes every bit of 7- 8 days to get 12+ acceptable eggs from the girls. I don't know what the girls are up to right now but I didn't get one egg yesterday....

I do have some photos but they are pretty dated by now....later today when I get home from town I will snap some more pics of them.

Pinkchick They are probably about to go into molt... Mine just started losing thier feathers... I am getting one egg for nine hens...

I hope they get through it quickly!!! I haven't gotten an eggie from my new CREE birds... I can't wait to see what the little buggers lay!!! Probably nice and dark after molt...

Pinkchick:

Really.... You didnt' know... Well mine are DEFINETLY molting... no one told them not too... I should have had them sign a contract till after June... ha ha. FEATHERS are hanging off them rendering them rediculous looking... I am just starting to find feathers everywhere... It did seem a little early.. We have had such wierd weather.

Have yours hatched any offspring yet? Mine have already raised a brood. I am glad.. they look terrible...Mine may be molting because I had them under lights all winter.

ACK... that is bad.. You need to get on the Crazy egg chain... quick!!!

I have my Cree eggies in for a week and a half out and BHB's coming in the mail in a week... I think I can hold out till after molt... Frankly I am sick and tired of listening to little babies!!!! ACK!!! I will welcome the peace of the end of hatching season.

They don't look like they are going into a molt....this flock is only 9 mos old will be 10 months on 5-19.

One gal went broody and hatched out 3 babies. Now another is broody but I tossed her in with my very active dark blue roo "Bill" he is keeping her on her toes. I really didn't want her to go broody so I am going to see if Bill can help her out with that.

Besides I don't have any eggs to put under her. lol Bill was doing a great job of keeping her out of the next box yesterday.

I miss the sound of babies but right now I don't have anymore room for them until some babies go to their new homes, plus I just got my Lav. Ameraucanas.......I need an extreme coop make over! Quick somebody call ABC and get them over here.

I am looking for more hatching eggs....LF Blue Salmon Faverolles.....BBS Langshans......more Barnevelders......Delawares.......Light Sussex...........and the list goes on!

Curious, anyone here know exactly how much their Marans roosters weigh? . . . Because I always (gasp, also talking non-Marans) thought Ameraucanas and Easter Egger roosters should weigh 5-6.5 pounds. Well, I know for one that the last and only Marans rooster I saw in my life must have been 2-3 times bigger and heavier than my EE, which sounds reasonable. . . But I weighed my EE a couple days ago, and. . . He's 10 pounds! - Now, how is it that I have a 10 pound Easter Egger?

I really was expecting that my own Black Copper and Blue Wheaten boys would tower over him, but . . . Aren't Marans supposed to max at ooh 11-12 pounds?
