Absolutely Wynette! At the rate I was going, they would've been laying before they got out of the brooder!

After I had to swallow a small chunk of pride, I realized the stress was gone, so it's all good! They are building a fortress for my chooks, can't wait till it's complete!

Actually, the Wheaten qualifying is not going to be in Illinois. Dick mis-spoke when he said that. It was discussed, but never voted on. So its still up in the air as to where it will be located. Logic would dictate to hold it in an area where there are a lot of Wheaten breeders. Illinois, probably not.

Yes thank you for the pictures! You mentioned "trapping your hens" do you have trapnests and if you do, do you have pics? I don't know how to make them and I could sure use some ideas.

Geebs: I didn't know where the Oregon swap was going to be, just that it is in Oregon. Cottage Grove is far huh? Well rats.

trapping - my DH built me a rolling breeder/broody pen over this past winter, and I love that thing for trap nests! It's 4' x 3', up on stilts with wheels at one end so I can wheel it right out of the barn and even wheel it directly into the run the hen belongs in. It has a nest in one corner, and I use feed cups to hang off the wire sides for water/feed. I love that thing! It also works awesome as a broody buster - I just put a small feed bucket into the nest box so the broody doesn't have access to it, leave her in for 3 days, and she's busted! When using for trap nests, I simply wheel it into the run, put the hens I'm wishing to separate eggs from in it for the day, and when I've collected their eggs, they can return to the run & their buddies for the day.

Not I, sorry! I am getting nervous about completing orders now, as I've had two of my best girls go broody!
