Ya with my hatchery cuckoo's the first few eggs were really light and then they got much darker.

I got a speckled one today, too. Mine have been getting better and better.

Some started out kind of rosy and some had a chalky coating on them and I almost had a heart attack until I some kind person here on BYC told me that was normal!

Whew! Sure enough, they started getting better! Here is a funny one I got today.

I picked up six BC eggs today and eight yesterday. I have eighteen nice ones in the Bator already and they are doing fine! I should have chicks shortly after Christmas.

That is a great egg I can't wait till I get another Marans egg my cuckoo girls are holding out on me again after their molt I am going to try and get them laying again soon because the Delewares and leghorn should not have to carry my families egg needs until next spring I can only ask so much of the poor girls. I hope you have great hatches with you new eggs sounds like you have a nice start to a breeding program.

I am getting welsummers and bbs ameraucana next weekend though I am so exited ! I can't wait to see my expanded egg basket in spring I already have a pretty nice variety of eggs but this will just be stunning! here is my list of egg colors and breeds:
Deleware (light brown), Salmon faverolle (pink), Leghorn (white), Cuckoo Marans (dark with speckles about a 4 or 5 on the egg scale), Wheaten and blue wheaten ameraucana (sky blue), EE (sky blue), Blue and Black copper Marans (very dark), Welsummers (dark with speckles), BBS ameraucana (blue) I am so eggcited
