ok, ok, ok, I need help. I was just offered some blue copper and black copper (separate pens) eggs for the cost of shipping!!! I have put the bators away and hate to dig them out, but how can I not???? This is from a wonderful person that had been kind enough to offer me some eggs when their birds started laying and they have Davis birds. Maybe this is my chance for some pullets!! I guess my biggest concern is the cold

. Will the eggs freeze? My poor dh, well at least if I get them after the new year then I kept to no more this year

. What would you do?

Here's what you do... Have her ship them to me. I have an empty bator just SITTING there... and I will hatch them and send you eggs as soon as THESE start to lay. That will be this summer and by then you should be ready for eggs! Sound like a plan?

I'm offering the same as onthespot, but am in FL, and have maniac friends that drive up to Maine a few times a year. They could bring the chicks or eggs with them to Maine, or we could ship after they're hatched....I have 12 bcm from Bev's line hitting the bator next week and have cuckoos hatching over the next couple days, so they will have loads of company!
Just a thought, but I wouldn't suggest shipping unless you wanna pay for express or overnight UPS.

Just sitting here on the sidelines looking at all the beautiful Marans, and their eggs.Trying to learn all I can. I have 1 Cuckoo Maran hen who lays a pretty egg,but she's decided to go broody. She's decided to set on some of my friends Americauna,Or Americauna x Turkin eggs. Should be interesting!

I thought Marans were not real broody. What are your opinions?

Marans in the future is predicted!

I think that Marans are actually supposed to be a very broody breed from what I have heard probably depends on the line though. I think allot of cuckoo's go broody very often.
