the source of the cuckoos will be a good indicator of what that chick is....when I spoke to Bill Braden he said his lines throw golden cuckoos......looks like yours may be that

It's kind of hard to tell, but my first impression from the first photo is all girls and one boy.

The second photo is definitely a roo. The little roo w/the little bit of reddish color on his head looks to be out of my one rooster who is directly from Bill Braden--the rooster is not a golden, but he does have a few random gold feathers. I don't know what your little roo will grow up to look like, but like klf73 said, Bill's birds sometimes throw goldens (and they sometimes throw white sports, too). That one roo of mine is the only one with any gold, and it's just a little, but it's there. So I guess your little guy might be anywhere from having just a couple of gold feathers to being full-blown golden. I haven't hatched any goldens out of him, though.

He looks to have nice leg feathering. How many did you get with feathered shanks, out of curiousity? I have a few clean-legged hens and one clean-legged roo (can't help it, they came out of dark eggs and they lay dark eggs...I figure in another year or so I'll have all feather-legged though, as I'm working towards that), but almost all of the chicks I just hatched have nice feathering.

well, even if he only has a few golden feathers he would be valuable to someone with goldens to add feather shanks

I hatched my second batch of BBS birchens last night. I gotta say, baby chicks are just SO CUTE!!

None of these eggs were especially dark -- but, oddly enough, all four of the darkest eggs produced splash babies (one may actually turn out to be a very light blue). Also, I think only 5 of all 13 chicks has feathered legs, but fortunately all the dark-egged ones did.
