Hey guys --

Don't worry too much about the MCC drama. All that happened is that Sally got ticked off and quit, and now she's trying to make trouble for the club. It's nothing that deserves much attention.

My chicks are doing well, for the most part. One of the little blue kids is having a problem with an eye infection, but I *think* he's improving. And my wheatens are great big teenagers now! I am really enoying the personality of the wheatens -- so much nicer than my older wheaten pullets. what a relief!

Anyone else got from valentines here? Curious how they look as adults from others

My Cuckoo Marans rooster is from Valentine Hatchery, as are two of my original hens. I have several hens from other lines as well - some from unkown lines, some from Kelly Cratty lines, Iona McCormick stock, and also four Pullets purchased from Angie Harrover (Kelly Cratty lines). I get light and dark eggs and I dont know who is laying what! And since I give my eggs to other BYC members right here and they hatch them, alot of folks here on BYC have Valentine Lines! They probably just dont know it or care! They have Cuckoo Marans that lay pretty eggs, and thats the only promotion I make from my current stock...because most of the eggs are lighter than I care for....only most of them, some are Beautiful! I got one today that just tickled me!! Makes me wish I liked to eat them! It is lovely!

QUESTION ! lol. ok so i got these two marans hens, from great lines, but they lay eggs the color of a stinking BO egg!! no speckles or anything, its just the shell color.. now i know that marans have like a painting gland in the ovaduct that paints the egg that dark color right? so is there anyting i can do to turn on its painting thing ?? or feed it something or SOMETHING?? ehlp!
