Feather color looks off to me, more of a black tailed buff coloration.

A cockeral of that size should have a lot more black in the wings and breast.

I will try to post pics later.

We have an issue around here, there are eating eggs, and there are "Eggs with potential". We have a very hard time eating any of the "eggs with potential", they seem to end up in the bator almost every time.

I would look at that egg and think "Inside there is probably a chick that will grow to be a hen with perfect confimation and coloring that lays a #9 egg throughout her cycle." if I eat an egg like that, with all of that potential inside, I will always think..............What if?

I will go hide again

You don't need to hide! I enjoy a good joke! And if i was thinking straight you would have never got that one past me!! I appreciate all the great information that we can learn here but humor adds alot of enjoyment to these posts. Don't stop.

Thanks nivtup, pics of correct coloring would be very helpful. I am trying to decide whether to keep him or send him to freezer camp.

Birch Run Farm - "squirrel tailed" means that the angle of his tail is too vertical?

No joke. We need to match egg colors with the Pantone color chart (the official color standard used by the paint industry). The araucana club has a somewhat similar standardized chart with many tints on it. But it would be work to really match all those tints up, and expensive to print em up.
