Marans Thread for Posting Pics of Your Eggs, Chicks and Chickens

Drom, I heard about that wet weather out your way! YUK! Hope you will be getting it all dried out soon!

See, this is what I have. (Well, my first Marans!

) ... I bought a dozen Marans chicks, back in September. I received 2 light colored ones (Splash), 5 BCM, 5 Blue. Only the blue do not have feathered shanks. I was told, (copy from the email): "the light are Splash, the grey are Birchen, and, of course, the black are BCM." Further, it said the BCM were Wade Jeane lines, and the other two were Bev Davis lines. So, what the heck do I have??? I am gonna have to go take pictures of each and every one of them, so I can ask here!

Please excuse the poor photography... This is blue... they are VERY DIFFERENT... The Splash has stripes throughout and when crossed on Black always throws me a blue bird.

The first looks like a light blue, the second is a splash

Well, is Geebs' bird what would be called copper splash?

IDK but this a splash... Different lines have different ways of presenting... Some strains present like spots and mine present with stripes and this pattern... I cant tell you why.. Just like some BC 's don't look like other BC's... it is just a different strain. You do have to overlook the mud on her back... rooster tracks.. She does have stripes but they do not show in this pic... Different genetics I guess

I looked at the Marans site, and I think mine is Splash, and Geebs ... yours looks like a blue. That's what I get from the picture on the Marans site. And, the pictures there are not really very good (small).

No copper on her, so I would say no.
