Hey, they all look the same. Geebs, yours was a bit darker in the pic--is it actually lighter? Because Tdgill's looks kind of light.

I am in Oregon... that should explain everything... His pic is in the sunlight... there in lies the mystery!!! I admit to the poor photography... ha ha

What ever happened to Pinkchick???

Hey tdgill... Is that picture on your "page" with the fuzzy butts... is that your Splash marans??? That is what my splashs look like as babies (cochins) that have the same color pattern.. almost a self blue hue. Just curious or is that a self blue???

Ahhh... yes I lived in Oregon and understand what you mean. Actually I think the photos turn out more true to color when it is overcast. At least it does on my BCMarans. The roos look brassy in the light but when it is cloudy they are the most gorgeous deep red.

I can't keep up with all the posts!!!!!!!

Ok.....I have not seen nor hatched out a blue bird with pink legs and white beak.....that is not to say that it couldn't happen but I don't know that answer for sure. I have had splash birds with blue legs, slate legs and pink legs, all have had white beaks. All of my blue birds have blue or slate legs and dark beaks. Here is a photo of a gal that just recently was sold as a cull because of her eye color, she has blue legs and white beak and came from a very nice egg.

Blue and Splash egg color- Yes the egg of blue and splash birds is being worked on and it can be lost very easily with these color varieties of Marans. I am very pleased with my blue and splash birds egg color. Here is a photo of some blue and splash eggs going in the bator tonight. Mind you I have been working on these for quite some time and breeding specific roos over my blues and splashes to improve egg color, I still have a long way to go in my opinion. A few of the darkest eggs in this photo are from my BCM's but the majority of these eggs are from my blues and splashes.

Sorry I cannot be of more assistance, however if anyone ever needs a home for their blues and splashes they are always welcome here!

Geebs~ I have not seen a splash bird that looks that yours but since the blue gene acts as a diluter it is very possible in my opinion that it could have diluted your splash a little more than normal......I am not an expert, this is just my opinion. However, I have a splash Ameraucana pullet that is colored exactly like your gal.
