I see a couple of darker spots on the hens underside, if they are really darker, then she is a splash. Sometimes splash can look like all blue or lavendar if they don't express the darker feathers.

I think Bev once said that lavendar is impossible in Marans because the gene isn't there. To get it you would have to breed to a lavendar of another breed.

Pretty bird just the same.

Just want to post my roo. I think is is beautiful

He has a lot of straw color in his hackle feathers. Squirrel tail and,...... a short back from what I can tell... If you just like a nice backyard roo he is adorable. I can't tell shank color but the feathering is there... What the quality of it is hard to tell from the photo. I personally wouldn't use him for breeding stock but he is a cute rooster!!!

Hackel color is just a little faded at the tips, but not straw colored.

This rooster has the correct tail angle. Sorry the photos aren't too clear.

Correct!!!

There is no gene available for Lavender...in other breeds There is the available gene and the splash and lavender is sometimes hard to tell apart... So knowing there is no Lavender... It is blue... Plus (bad picture) It has grey stripes all over it.. They are just light and didn't show up in this photograph.​

And by blue I mean blue genetics not lavender genetics... But the color of the bird is splash... Stripes on the light color... has all blue babies when bred to black... Etc.

Thank you but I believe is tail is beautiful and look like the other roos I see on this site. But anyway I am going to breed him did not say he was show quality. I love him and he comes for a good line.
