I really should wait about 4 or 5 months to hatch a clutch of chicks from these girls so I can pick the eggs that are holding their color. That's a goal of mine. But it is so hot here in July,

I really don't want to be hatching babies then. In fact, this year I think I need to prepare better for the heat. Maybe I need to use fans and misters or something.

That is a really pretty roo pasofino !!! I hope some of my chicks that I hatched from your eggs look like that. I can say one thing, these chicks are really feathering out alot faster than any of the other chicks I've been hatching. I have some 5 week old blue and black marans and they did not feather out near as fast as these little guys did.

Czech this out, last night was Day 18 for my eggs; 7 BC Marans and 9 F2 OEs.

The BC Marans had an average weight loss of only 9.3%, while the OEs averaged 12.1%.

Since 12-14% is the target, maybe I need to incubate Marans eggs on their own.

Babies!!! My first babies from the eggs I hatched from OnTheSpot!!!

Four in all... more in the incubator.

These were some of the eggs laid by these birds.

eta: these are the first generation of chicks, not chicks directly hatched from Patty.

I hatched eggs from her last summer, and finally got babies.

By the way, those white wing tips are standard on most all of the chicks I have hatched from your eggs and most all of the lines I have hatched from. I did hear someone on BYC say they had never seen this before!

Hey Keith-

I've got at least 15 extra chicks. If you would like to have them they are yours... Or anyone else who may want them if Keith doesn't speak up. When I custom hatch for folks I usually set twice what I need... when they all hatch it is a different kind of problem.

Chicks are sold.

Chicks are sold! May do another hatch soon. In the meantime I'm back to just eggs till I get the ducks out of the 'bator.
