Please tell me you mean your Cree hens lay 8's a year later. . .

. Because the eggs I first purchased from them were Bev Davis adult hen eggs, and lovely 7's. She also had some Wade Jeanne pullet eggs just a little darker, and some Wheaten eggs in between from pullets. I've seen an 8 egg. . . Wynette's pullet lays a gorgeous 8 egg.

- But I'd love to think that my Cree birds will give me 8's and 7's for a LONG time.

But who knows, maybe Wynette's egg is a 9, the Cree eggs are 8s, and I just have too high of standards to call them so.

. . . I need one of those charts handy in real life to say for real what the eggs rate as. But I honestly do believe the Crees are 7's, Wynette's is an 8 - It is GORGEOUS but not practically black as the charts online show. . . Or maybe it is. I only have 2 to look at right now, (the rest are in the bator) so maybe they just seem lighter when they're all alone.

Here's a picture of my BC marans and my cuckoo marans taken last night. Can anybody tell me whether the BC is a cockrel? The cuckoo is about 4 weeks old, the BC should be between 4 and 5 weeks from what the breeder told me (but the BC seems smaller than the cuckoo to me, with less tail feather growth). The only difference in their legs is the BC has black legs down to the feet and the cuckoo's legs are only dark part way down, but they are about the same size. Don't know if different sexes show personality differences this early, but the BC is the mellowest, most curious and friendly of all my chicks, though the cuckoo is also pretty mellow... they're so mellow, I couldn't get them to stand up for the picks

Illia... the Cree are GREAT producers of super darkies... My hens don't always lay a 6 and 7 but they do throw me one and an 8 every little while as well and they are in their 2nd lay year... I pulled them through winter under lights... so they are currently in a very long run lay...You will be happy with that stock... I love Cree Wades. Most ppl are steering toward Davis and everyone has their reasons... I like the Wade birds and Cree has some of the darkest egg layers available anywhere for any price.

Makes me think about the Wade hen she had for sale. . . 50 bucks. . . . I need to tell myself this: I don't need to buy any more chickens. I don't need to buy any more chickens. I don't need to buy any more chickens.

Besides I already paid nearly $200 for some Tolbunt Polish eggs. . . . They arrived today and I am SO excited to hatch them. My current eggs are merging into day 20. . . So close!!

Ya... I guess she is going to keep the line... she was talking about just doing one line but can't do it...She likes the wades also.
