Thank you... I've been a shutterbug for the last 40 years. But I discovered that if I take a nice piece of lace, or in this case fleece, and drape it over the back of a chair and onto a table, it makes a perfect backdrop for the birds. They two I photographed today are the same group as the others I posted, so they're all only a few days older than before. I'll be sure to post pictures in the coming months as they mature. They're all from OnTheSpot's flock. No culling until at least 6 months! The two in these photos were a little dismayed to find one of our dogs in audience, which is why they were so still.
Donna's eggs haven't hatched yet... they go into lockdown next week.
Here are 3 that I hatched from MissDeb just yesterday...
AK-Birdbrain: Onthespot's birds are Donna birds also!!! (I think that is what I heard) Yeah... double jeopardy!!! WHEEEEE
I recognized that shutterbug thing...Gotta pose the little buggers huh? I have been a shutterbug for 25+ or so years.... Most facets...No underwater and no above the earth... but most things in between. Are you a hobbyist or a pro? Pretty good shots if you ask me... I used to train ppl to teach photography... If that makes any sense. Portraiture. I will remember your backdrop for sure... I was using for the peeps paper towels... they come off the roll nice and you can just get a new one w/o even tearing them off.... (unless they are dirty)....
Oh and hey AK... we are hatch buddies... I have some to go into lockdown on WED. THey are CREE... !!! Yay... more Wades for us!!!! (I am sending you good chicky vibes!!)
keep the pix coming... that is my favorite part of this thread!!! Now I got to go back read if you answered my question... (got off on the photography tangent and almost hijacked the thread... marans... marans.. (hope that helps)
But yes, I think you might be right. More of Patty's went into lockdown this evening, Nancy's (Bargain) eggs are locked down on the 1st, and Donna's go into lockdown next Wednesday. So hopefully I will have enough to choose from to help improve the flock.
This was my season for Marans (and Orpingtons).
Next year will be Dorkings and Delawares.
More good hatching vibes!!!
(Berkley, that was freakin' hilarious!!
)
PS. Geebs... just a hobby photographer. My parents were really into photography too, and I think it rubbed off on me. But I'm self-taught, with much to learn. I just know what works for the birds.
I've also been blessed with a husband who likes high-quality cameras, and isn't afraid to let me borrow it.
AK-birdbrain: I love your website.. So nice. If you were next to me I would so take you up on the plucking thing... What a great deal!!! The 4h fundraiser thing... SOOOO cool.. What a great idea!!!
