OMG, Germaine!!!!! I did NOT intend to say "that bites" in that way! I am so sorry - please don't think I wrote that on purpose. I obviously wasn't thinking, and it was very insensitive of me to not notcie. I'm sorry!

WAY TO GO, gvntofly!!!!!! WOOT WOOT!

Goodness, I work SO hard in life not to offend - I cannot BELIEVE I wrote that! ACK! Thanks for not taking offense - you're a good egg! (this time, pun intended)

These are Marans eggs? They are pretty (they were likely much darker at the beginning of their lay cycle).

I LOVE speckly eggs and have often said that I wish someone would breed for that. I'd buy eggs in a heartbeat for super awesome speckles bred into them!

I love the speckled ones too! Here is what my girls laid today. When they all kick in I am going to be in egg heaven. Somedays I get speckles from some of them but not alot.

Wynette,
Do you do alot of hatching anymore? What is your thought on hatching .... I mean, do you hatch only your darkest eggs, or do you just toss them all in the bator?

Germaine,
How about you? Do you hatch only certain ones? I like those ones with the ruby reddish tints to them!

Wynette,

I saw that as quite humorous myself, and saw no insensative intent! I think in bad situations, humor is a true relief from the stress. I don't know Germaine, but she seems to be a "real good egg" kinda gal with a great sense of humor too!! I've been so busy trying to get this coop built, that I just realized that my eggs in the bator go into lockdown on Monday! Wow! Time flies when you're busy. Didn't have my nose to the bator window this time!

Guess I'd better buy another brooder, as they will be here long before the coop is done! I did make some serious progress today though, and found some very bored, neighbor boys, that are very eager to help! I think they really enjoyed themselves, as did I. Thankfully, the 14 year old is very tall, and not afraid of ladders!! We got the other two walls up, and the roof framing done today. Now, on to the siding, roof, nest boxes, door, pop door, window, electric... oh my.....
