Marans???

I don't have any, but I intend to get a few to try. If I could get some good stock I am interested in incorporating them into a meat bird project. I love dark meat!

I saved a Freedom Ranger hen for that purpose. I'm not trying any project or anything, just thought that it would make a good DP. I started out with 18 eggs I got at Nationals in Columbus last year and only got one little hen. Plus I hatched out one sole boy out of 12 from Bargin on here. Out of those I got another hen and rooster. I have a total of three FBCM and will be breeding only two of those along with FR.

No problem I will be starting to gather eggs in Jan. I will post on how it goes.

That's great news, I prefer a darker meat.

The marans I bought from a local guy is very dissapointing as far as egg color goes but she sure is friendly. But I like the egg color a lot and its reassuring to me that their meat isn't bad either.
