March 2017! Hatch with us!

Hi there

:caf   I, well everyone here, has had that nervous, oh no, what if this or that...it's why we all seem a little bit crazy to our non-chicken friends, lol. Then before you know it, you have peeps. I too am struggling with candling. I let me broody select out any eggs she knows aren't viable. She's never been wrong yet. But I get that you must be using a broody-bator. How many eggs are set? Are the shells really dark? or just not sure how to interpret what you're seeing?
I hope and pray you get to see that first pip become a zip.
For me  (and I know logically it is a process) but for me, that moment where an egg becomes a real chicken blows my mind every time!
Sit tight...which you're probably already doing. There will be lots of folks on here that will come by soon and share.

Thank you day 21 has now passed and still nothing :(
I have a mix of 12 eggs some dark and all i saw was an air sac and a green egg which i swear the chick foetus waved at me lol. Now im just still waiting

Well, no chicks for me this month. My OEGB pullet did quit setting. It never got above freezing today, and the eggs were ice cold. I brought them to the house and candled them, and couldn't see anything inside. So, I broke them open. The 2 LF eggs had made it to day 3 or so (I gave her eggs a week ago) one of the bantam eggs appeared at about day 2,and the other 2 bantam eggs apparently weren't fertile. Oh well, have the pullet her chance anyway. Have a chick order coming the end of May to look forward to!

Hello, I have been having some trouble lately with hatching my sulmtalers. I use a sportsman GQF incubator and hatcher but I can't seem to get it right. During incubation the temperature is around 99.8 degrees and humidity is about 30%. And during the hatch the temp is 98.5-99.0, and the humidity is at at least 55% for the last two days. They hatch on day 22.
I just got a poor hatch of 2/13 sulmtalers. The two that did make it seem perfectly healthy. All of the others were fully developed but didn't hatch. If anything it seemed like the membrane was tightly bound to the chick even though they didn't pip yet.
Please give me some tips about how you incubate your birds and if there is anything that I am doing wrong. IT IS SO FRUSTRATING.
