March 2018 Hatch-a-long

Pics
Woke up to 9 chicks hatched this morning on day 20 some others pipping, my Genesis 1588 is holding steady at 99.5 and 68 humidity, my 3 year old grandson would not leave the incubator yesterday until his mother promised to bring him back this morning, he loves collecting the eggs when he comes over, i think i see a future chicken farmer !!!

Day 22.

Nap time. We just look like road kill.
5/8 hatched on day 20. 3 still in the incubator. 2 looked questionable when I candled on days 13 and 18. 3rd was alive on day 18 but a bit smaller than the ones that hatched. I may pull the plug on them tonight.

Today is day 21 and i moved 27 to the brooder, 15 eggs left with 3 pips, did not candle so the rest may be infertile will wait one more day, very happy with dry incubation!!

I dry incubated as well. I had initially placed 15 in, with the intention of at least 12 hatching. All made it to lockdown. 4 quit during that time. Upon internal inspection, they never turned around. So I have 11 healthy peepers occupying my brooder right now :jumpyI still feel that was not bad for a homemade $20 incubator.
