Maybe I am usually patient?

Maybe it's my experience of all 4 of my pregnancies resulting in late babies (I even had one who was a week late for his induction and one who was late for his C-section), but I don't feel any particular urgency about waiting for the babies. They come in due time.

I am impatient. But all my babies came early. First was 4 days early, 2nd was 13 days early last was 15 days early. Lol. So maybe that is why. Plus most of my eggs have hatched on day 20 which doesn't help. Lol

Time to meet Saran.

I've always been a little vague on just what constituted a shrink-wrapped chick, but I do believe that this is definitely a case of shrink-wrapping.

He/she made absolutely no progress in several hours so I took the egg out to see if there was more dry membrane and was there EVER. Dry, brown membrane FIRMLY stuck to the down.

I moistened it with some warm water and started peeling it away very carefully, ending up with only a thin strand of soft membrane connecting the parts of the shell. As soon as I got him unstuck, he kicked out of the remaining egg and hatched into my hand.

He's back in the incubator, there's still a bit of shell stuck to part of him, but I'm hoping that will come off as he moves around. I'll check him again in another hour or so.

I'm hoping that he's not deformed, either as the cause of his failure to progress or a result of the shrink-wrapping.

Some shadowing or internal pip???? Same egg one pic is near the top, that may be an internal pip???? 2nd pic is bottom part, harder to see the shadowing but most of the bottom of the air cells has a shadow.

Lockdown tomorrow! Still trying to sort out the best set up for my MHP. Better sort that out soon.
Candled tonight. Think everyone looks good but hard to say at this stage. Air cells are quite large on my Isabel orpingtons and small and not sloped on my lavender orpingtons and marans.
Guessing my Ameraucana and EE will be first to hatch then Isabel, lavender orp, marans lastly brahma.

I'm not sure if I should be excited or worried about one of my eggs about to hatch less than a day after lockdown. Its currently day 19.

Pulled 3, two WTB and the dark brown. One was a very early loss that I’d hoped just needed a bit more time. The brown looked very recent Still, a great improvement over last year and it is early in the season
