I did try using warm water and a cotton ball. Didn't actually try a full bath. LOL Got some of the membrane off. Some of the membrane was still over one eye so I made sure it was well softened before trying to pull it off. (I had a vision of pulling the eye out if it wasn't soft enough - didn't want that to happen). Got the big pieces off, and put them back into the incubator to dry again. One still looks like he needs a full bath because the chick has a slicked back look instead of the normal fluffy baby look. But they are dry and I don't want to deprive them of food/water. I put them in with the others and one went straight to the water and drank. Smart little guy/gal to figure that out so soon.CG
The shell mess will wear off a couple days usually .No need for a bath unless they have some really hard stuff stuck on them which usually only happens when they needed assisting

Congrats! Where's the pictures?!?6 of my 8 ameraucanas have hatched, holding onto hope for the last two... but very happy with my current count. Yay!
