March 21 or so hatching

7 out of 8 have hatched. The last one has been pipped for a while & just starting to progress. These guys are so cute! I'll get pictures when I can safely open the incubator.

Day 21 begins with 2 pips so far....just 39 more to go!

The shell mess will wear off a couple days usually .No need for a bath unless they have some really hard stuff stuck on them which usually only happens when they needed assisting
I did try using warm water and a cotton ball. Didn't actually try a full bath. LOL Got some of the membrane off. Some of the membrane was still over one eye so I made sure it was well softened before trying to pull it off. (I had a vision of pulling the eye out if it wasn't soft enough - didn't want that to happen). Got the big pieces off, and put them back into the incubator to dry again. One still looks like he needs a full bath because the chick has a slicked back look instead of the normal fluffy baby look. But they are dry and I don't want to deprive them of food/water. I put them in with the others and one went straight to the water and drank. Smart little guy/gal to figure that out so soon.
Update: I don't think the last two are doing too good. They have leg problems so they are getting trampled since they can't get away. I have them on my chest with another shirt over them to trap my body heat for them, and it kind of immobilizes them so I can keep them in position (have legs banded together and I'm keeping the legs under their body instead of to the side). I gave them some vitimin B drops. The most lethargic one (tired or sick?) is gapping and doesn't struggle and he's the one that went to the water when he first got into the brooder. May have to think about culling them if I don't see improvement but I want to give them a chance first.

CG Great hatch!!
Thanks. Here's pictures.
There are also 7 bantams from TSC.

Here's one with a little less flash washing out the colors. Going to need a bigger box real soon.

I have one pipped and one zipping. :) I also have another dozen or so going into lockdown tomorrow. Fun stuff!

So I still just have 1 chick. 9 have pipped including 1 of the BCMs that made it to lock down by default because I never could see into it. Guess that was a good choice. 2 of these pipped before the one that has hatched and dried by now! What is the hold up? I want babies!

Here are my two that hatched yesterday. I ought to get a few more today. At least I certainly hope so. 17 more eggs going into lockdown today, that also means I am setting 17 more in the incubator. These first two hatched without incident and are lively buggers.
