Mrs. Mucket :

We have a chick! It was about 12 hours from pip till hatch. I missed the zip...It pipped around 7 PM last night (day 19). Nothing changed all evening and I went to bed at 2:30 AM. Then I got up at 8 AM and voila! The chick was out and about! Still very wet and very tired but it gets up and chirps every once and a while.

I was wrong...this chick must have pipped after 2:30 AM this morning and was hatched by 8 AM. I discovered that the egg that pipped Monday evening (day 19) is still there. The "piphole" looks dried over and it's been 20 hours. Is that bad news? Yesterday the little beak was actually poking out of the shell.

Still only one chick rambling around, pecking at another egg now and then. I think I might hear a fainter peeping along with the chick's chirps, but no other visible pips yet.

I have 10!
There are several more peeping.

Trying to figure out how to post pictures.

So excited! My students were able to see one born with the use of my document camera on the Smartboard. (Invision an 8 foot computer screen)

Well it's D-day for my chicks and ducks I haven't heard anything yet but that's ok my last batch never made a sound. I wish they would just hurry up already do they know I have been sitting here waiting all this time for them to come out. If I was in an egg and heard someone outside yelling come on already and hatch I would hurry and start to hatch but nooooo they just time their sweet time.

We are on day 21 today!!!! somme of the eggs are moving and rocking a little... no pips or anything else!!
Is there anything we can do to get them moving????
The suspense is killing us..
I don't want them to not make it out..
temp fine 99.6
humidity 67%

So jealouse of everyone who has some hatching already...

My debutant chick is 24 hours old, waiting for some more eggs to hatch. Every once in a while it pecks at another egg--do you think it hears peeping inside? If it's still alone tonight I may slip it under my broody or get another chick or two at the feed store and put them in the brooder. No peeping sounds from broody's nest either.

I have a chick!! The first one to hatch is a little Dominique / Rhode Island Red cockerel!

Inky's being such a good mommy!

One more is pipping right now. It's also a Dominique / Rhode Island Red cross.

Gah! I wonder if ANY of my pure doms are going to hatch?!
