March 7th hatch along. Newbie :)

It looks as though your eggs were incubated on their sides. During the incubation the embryo will move to the most optimal location to hatch. For them that could be the pointy end of the egg. If the egg is pipped then it can get air and will hatch just fine usually. A slight angle with the big end up will correct this in future hatches. Congrats on the pip!! It's the most stressful and exciting part. Stay close and enjoy the show. Keeping the lights dim or off seems to speed up the process. (They think momma is covering them up and feel safe to emerge). Good luck!
ok. thank you :) yes my incuview rolls them on their sides 6x a day. I'll have to see what I can figure out for putting them on an angle in the future. I will keep it dark :)

13 silkies set on 2/25. On day seven4 were not fertile. 8 of the remaining9 hatched.:weeSet 2 silkie on 2/28 they died in the shell.:barnie
Set 1 silkie on 3/6 it hatched today:wee
Have 6 Silverlace wyndottes in lock down due to hatch tomorrow on 3/38. Some of them are iffy. Wish me luck.

Still have 18 assorted eggs. Set on 3/10 and 6 Ameraucanas and 3 SLs set on 3/24.

I always think I will only set 1 batch but I always go chick crazy in the spring.

How many incubators do you have going? Lol. I'm thinking about getting a second one for Peafowl eggs.

So 5 have hatched so far. One didn't make it :(
Wondering if I should remove them quick when they are dried & put them under the lamp? They are crashing around the other eggs in there.
About the dead one.... He was out, up & moving but he had some yolky gunk and a lil bit of blood last night out of him. Did he just tear out too fast? I'll keep you posted on the rest of the hatch. :)

I would move them out once they have dried off. I had one not absorb all of its yolk as well this hatch, I left him in for a bit longer than normal and hoped he would absorb it or it would dry up. It dried up and I had to use some scissors to remove the dried portion. It is currently in with its hatch mates doing great! It's not something I have seen when chicks hatch themselves? I will have to watch how it grows to see if there is anything I need to watch for in future hatches. Many congratulations to all the new chicken parents!! :celebrate:thumbsup

One of my Silkies has been setting on eggs and one hatched today. Does it count?

Tried to upload a pic guess I forgot how. Again!!! I'll figure it out and post later. I'M LIKE A CHICKEN. I WAKE UP IN A NEW WORLD EVERY DAY.:lau:gig

I moved the egg Crashers to the temp brooder :) there's 5 so far. A few pipped but didn't zip :( I wonder if they got knocked around too much. But I'm happy so far and there's movement in a couple others yet. :)
