I know The Garry Farm has a detailed how-to as well here on BYC, but I can't make a link using my not-so-smart phoneIt is also for the individually bubble-wrapped, two-box method. I really prefer this over the egg carton one. It seems the messes I have received have been ones using cartons. That is just my personal experience.![]()

I feel blessed. Our drive is at least 1/4 mile long, behind a locked gate, so the postman needs to call the house if there's a box to deliver. Once the gate's unlocked, he drives up the hill, rings the doorbell, and hands me our mail. We live on a rural route, so severe weather can adversely affect our mail delivery. I ordered eggs from Florida a few years ago, and we had an early, completely unexpected, ice storm. Our postal carrier wrapped the box of eggs in a wool blanket (his jeep doesn't have heat), and I had an 80% hatch. His wife keep chickens. I think that's the secret. All postal workers ought to be required to raise chickensI got eggs today ... it was in a box larger than my mailbox so they didn't cram it in there or rubberband it to my mailbox this time. he actually came to my door. my driveway is 3 cars long if that. i have a lazy PO guy. hates to get out of his truck.

I bubble wrap each egg. Make a nest full of newspapers arround where my eggs will go. then i usually put shredded papers in the middle place the eggs in the "nest" and then fill the rest of the box with shreded papers. i like the square boxes 6x6x6 or so. but those work great for bantams. if the eggs are larger i use the appropriate size priority mail box.
I got eggs today and they were individually bubblewraped and they used plastic bags to make a nest, etc to protect the eggs. and only one broke. not bad for the post office. it was in a box larger than my mailbox so they didn't cram it in there or rubberband it to my mailbox this time. he actually came to my door.
