Okay sticky egg cleaned :)

BUT another Maran.. has an issue.. he won't stand up, just kicks himself wildly around and always tips to one side.. I read a post about making a Johnny jumper type sling for him to get used to putting weight in it... any info. It will sip water... but that's about it.

If your chick is only a day or 2 old, the leg thing has a fair chance to work itself out. I've seen it take a chick as much as 3 days to build up enough strength in their feet to stand up and run around. We nicknamed one from our Feb hatch "Shuffles" because he took forever to get his 'legs' under him. I was getting nervous about his gimped shuffle-scooting behavior. And then by day 4 he was up and running around just fine. Same thing with our last-hatched chick, tho that one wasn't so much a shuffler. That one just didn't get 'up' right away. Ya wouldn't know it now though!

Are they actually already enroute? Or maybe the seller didn't send them when they said they would/did?

Well, I was told they would be shipped out last Wednesday but I never got a confirmation/tracking number. I think I may need to email them tomorrow if the eggs don't show up. It makes me feel like I'm a bother. :/

We had one like this in November. I made him a nest in a tuperware container. I rolled paper towels into a big doughnut shape the right size to fit his legs and behind. He would drink but couldn't balance or walk. After about 2 days he learned how to walk. The other chicks picked on him in the container, so I had to get one with taller sides to protect him. He grew up to be a feisty cockerel and picked on the others. I think he was getting his revenge. ;)

So we made a chickie jumper for him/her. He's alert , drank, just... falls over gonna give it a few days and see how he does.
Sounds a little like spraddle leg. You can make a little hobble out of vet wrap to fix it. It only has to stay on 24 hours and the legs should straighten up and not kick out to the sides. I had one like that this hatch and 24 hours later I took off the hobble and can't even tell which one it is. This is a picture of the hobble:

drat! one of my only two showgirls to survive the heat spike that killed 9 others has pipped at the wrong end! there is little EXTERNAL blood, but i cant tell how much may be lost inside. it is peeping ok. i puled away a tiny bit of the hard shell and made sure the membrane tear was open enough it could not close itself with blood and block oxygen. the air cell is completely at the other end.
