OK I may have a problem. I was out late tonight ( gone about 6 hours) and when I got home my temps were at 93° I adjusted as soon as I got home and checked on them but is it likely to hurt the babies.... I'm on day 7.

Quote:Unless you're experienced enough to tell the difference between each day when candling, then I don't recommend that you do this. Firstly you'll be cooling down the eggs again and secondly, you shouldn't be able to tell any difference between yesterday and today. You'd be better off waiting a few days until they're supposed to look distinctly different from the day when power went out, then try candling them!

OK so its day 7 and had temp fluctuations so I candled...I started with 24. 11 CCL, 4 EEs, 8 EOrps, 1maran. 10 CCLs swimming tonight 1 not fertile 3 EEs swimming 1 not fertile dropped one. 6 orps swimming 2 blood rings marans not fertile. I am really happy so far being this is my first hatch. I wanted the CCLs the most, the rest were so I could fill the bator. All in all I think Im doing pretty good. Now I can't wait for next Sunday.

Quote: I am pretty experienced, I've been incubator for a good while. I know what I'm looking at and I don't candle everyday. I was supposed to candle yesterday anyway (day 10), but didn't because I didn't want to open the incubator while it was off. At this point, if they're alive still, they'll be bouncing around in their eggs. I think they'll be fine. The temp dipped down into the 80s, which isn't too bad, but isn't great either. When I noticed the power was out, I covered the bator with a blanket and cranked up the wood stove, which managed to keep everything pretty warm. I plan to candle them tonight to see how they're doing

If they don't make it, do big deal. These are eggs from my own flock, I can go out to the coop, get more and start all over again.

Hello everyone. I set 11 chicken eggs. They are on day 7, 9 have veins and the 10 is a possible. Had to toss the 11 it had no veins on day 6. I don't know what breed they are or how old they are. We got 2doz from a friend of a friend for eating but once seeing they were fertile and my hens were not laying i couldn't help myself.

Sounds like you're on top of it, good luck!

I just set my eggs an hour ago, I know it will take a while to come back up to the temp I had set, but my humidity jumped up to 52 percent. I was going for 40 to 45 percent. Should I try to reduce it, or will it settle back down?
