Okay... offcially locked down about 2pm today... took out my clear welsummers after "water candling" ( cracked open and there was nothing )

Temps are reading 100 and humidity is abiut 75... is that too high? I don't know how I could drop it.. I feel like the heating element is working better now the turner isn't drawing power from it maybe? And in turn caused the spike in humidity from heat increase?

One little peeper hatched out today on day 19! The incubator did run around 100F for most of the time. Lots of other pips and some working on enlarging the initial pip.

I know what you mean. As soon as the chicks start hatching, I have to resist the temptation to open the incubator a thousand times and count how many pips I have!

Resist! I know the foibles of shrinkwrapped chicks! But what's wrong with checking every 10 minutes for new pips...lol.

I did candle mine the second day! And I didn't see much

I've been trying real hard to be good and leave them alone, but I'll probably go ahead and check my first batch again tonight. My Silkie eggs are really easy to see in to, and I can always tell pretty early if they're developing or not

I candled at 5 days last time. That was good. Hard not to candle every few days. Especially when they start moving!!!!

I am planning to wait until day 7. Knowing me I will try on day 4 and see NOTHING because 8 of my eggs are grey, 8 are blue and only 1 is white. Lol.

I found my blue eggs almost impossible even with my tactical flashlight!!!!!
What's the point in hatching tiny eggs that may have a small chance of hatching?
I just hatched my chocolate orpington's pullet eggs. They are very small chicks but extremely vigorous. I'm throwing some more in Monday!
And now we're up to 3! Looks like 2 Barred Rock X cockerels and 1 Barred Rock X pullet so far.
WOW! congrats. It happens so fast!

Quote:I've got the Advance EX (with the humidity pump) and it really is a matter of sticking the eggs in and coming back 18 days later to take it off the autoturn cradle and up the humidity for hatching. It's perfect for people two are out for most of the day or plan to be away for a few days during incubation. **** expensive though.
I am currently comparing hatch rates between the fully automated Brinsea and a 100% manual Janoel 12 hatching. So far I have 3/21 in the Brinsea and 2/7 in the Janoel. There are lots more pips in the Brinsea, but only one more pip in the Janoel. We're still in day 21 though!

Just joined this HAL! I've got 16 Isbar eggs due to hatch today and tomorrow! 15 Partridge brahma eggs in the bator along with 3 quail eggs. Yay for babies!!!!

We have a total of 5 chicks so far this morning, with one lazily working on zipping. I can't tell if we have more pips yet, but it's very early still.
