March Hatch A Long... anyone with me??

Quote:
were your eggs shipped?

Nope. They are from my back-yard chickens. I collected for 9 days and left them in a closet. I had a hard time with several trying to figure out the large end, so with several pipping on the wrong end I think I had the poor guys upside down. I also didn't put enough effort into boosting my hens' nutrition when I decided to collect to hatch, it was a whim. None of my EE eggs have hatched, but the shells on her eggs are super thick, so I suspected they wouldn't. I borrowed an LG still air from a friend. We had a power outage at day 17 and the temp dropped. A lot of contingencies. I'm glad that I got the 14. I do have one in with them with crippled feet, I'm going to give it a day or two. I tried making band-aid boots earlier, but it made things worse.

I've still got 14 eggs up in the incubator. How long should I leave them before quitting? Today is day 21. I set at 8pm on the 1st. All but 2 of the chickies hatched yesterday (day 20) and of the 2 to hatch today I helped one and it's the one with crooked legs. No action with the eggs for several hours now. I know still airs can have warm and cold spots... any suggestions on wait time?

This has been quite the learning experience.

I DO love my chickies and am extremely grateful for my 14 healthy babies!

Congratulations to all with new babies!! Pictures are so cute - thanks to all who posted!

For us the day 18 is over and I have 40 eggs in lock down. Started with 41, most of them I can't see through, but I saw one that stopped developing, so discarded that one (I collected it cold, but it did develop about half way through). I saw movement in few while candling, but most of them will be a surprise. I accidentally cracked one a little bit last week, but I left it in the corner of the incubator. I have still air incubator this time and the temperature seemed to be up and down and different at different levels. Well, we'll see what happens.
I have burned my hand on the heating element of the incubator about a week ago and it is still not healed completely (was bleeding yesterday again), I hope little chicks would be smart not to do burn themselves in there .

I have 15 silkie eggs that go on lockdown on Thursday I can't wait

Started with 21 eggs this batch all were shipped.
I candled them on day 15 and tossed the clear ones. I kept all the ones that looked like a large dark mass in the egg, I didn't really see a lot of movement but this is my first hatch so I'm not all that experienced at candling.

I've got 3 incubators going and two more on the way (so I can get rid of my LG) and I'm expecting hatches on March 27th & 31st as well as on April 2nd and 4th. So exciting!

Today is day 21 and still no peeps or pips. Wondering why?

This is the second time incubating, and temps have beed dead on the whole time. I thought it was going great and I often hear of early pips for others so i really, truthfully, hopefully, thought that this would happen to me

Ahhh... I will wait longer of coarse but," I DON'T WANT TO"
