March Hatch A Long... anyone with me??

I have 19 chicks out and 8 left to hatch

Some of my "fuzzys" have 3 side toes(dewclaws?) and some have double, but the top one is large and has 2 nails on it, and the rest have normal double toes. Both the hen and the rooster have double claws. I also breed her to my 2 other roos that don't have double toes. I'm thinking the one's with triple toes are from 2 DT parents, and the double toes are from 1 DT parent.

Has anyone had this happen before? Can't post pics still I get home. Sorry

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

Good luck, let me know how it turns out. I incubated most of my quail ( button ) eggs in my giant wooden incubator..and I think I hatched out 7/8 chicken eggs last summer..so I've only used it for like 6-7 hatches!!lol

I have never hatched anything ever, so who knows.

I have a 'bato full of mixed eggs from neighbors family and friends and I my sister, who is staying for a few days woke me last night to say "one has hatched!" I apparently got cranky with her. I had a long day of dealing with attack sheep, i was bruised sore and tired . She didn't take it personally, hehe. I woke up to five hatched this morning, and three are zipping right now!

Don't even know what to say..... 4 out of the 6 have pipped!!!

An update on my first hatch brats! They keep escaping the broody pen and I had to move mama and babies into the big silkie coop. I kept finding them booping around the yard. They are lucky I spotted them before the cat did!

We ended up with 2 silkie (maybe splash?) and 2 Japanese bantams.

You have a wooden incubator? how does that work? does it insulate well?

It works good in the summer, winter..not so much. It's like 4 ft by 3 foot or something, and it weighs over 50 lbs.

It does work good though!

It has an auto-turner. There is a switch on the side and it turns the 3 turns side to side. It has a fan, and it stays a 100-101 and hasn't gone under or over yet so

that it won't! It keeps the heat in very good, the only think I would like to change about it is it needs a window. During the hatches you can't see squatt and it's quiet annoying. Also, it needs some hatching trays, last time I incubated the chicks would run around blindlessly (sp?) and the chicks fell back behind the fan. This time I know to put a peice of wire or something over the tops.

I'll try to snap some pictures when I'm out there again.
