March Hatch A Long... anyone with me??

Hatch in the bator is all done, now time for cleaning to get it ready for the Easter Hatch! Using a Hovabator Genesis...
What is everyone else using to hatch?
Crossing my fingers that my other cochin goes broody at the right time to hatch some under her too

I am using my LG Incubator, I took the top off put it on my desk left it on , ran the bottom 1/2 outside gave it a good wash down and sit in the sun, then brought it back down and its ready to go again.

I am using 1 for incubation and 1 for hatching. We were expecting to get a third bator but that didn't pan out so well just yet.

Maybe in a week I can get a third.

We have 2 chicks, 2 zipped, at least 2-3 more pipped... there are 3 eggs behind the digital thermometer/hygrometer that I can't see. And the hatched chicks are knocking the other ones around. This is so cool, though. We are just now at the end of day 19. And these chicks look vigorous and bright-eyed and are getting up and walking shortly after hatch. SO happy we got our incubation techniques tweaked to work out well now (not to mention the awesome fertility of these eggs, most of which are mutt chicks).

For whatever reason I was thinking yesterday was day 19, but it was actually 20th. I started around 00:20am on Saturday (the 5th), so day 21 will be over same time tomorrow, which means that today (Friday) is the 21st day, right? Well, I have 10 pipped as of 2am this morning.

Had anyone ever had a heat lamp that is a tin cylinder with a bulb inside? I got it used and it does not seem to heat anything below it, although the cylinder itself is very hot to touch (can't keep my hand on it for sure). I will drive to a friend tomorrow to borrow her heat lamp (again), but I have to figure out something with mine as she'll need hers soon too. Do you think it would be safe to wrap the cylinder with rags so chicks can maybe lean against it?

JMO, but no I dont think its safe to put a flammable object onto something too hot to touch, its just easier to put a properly designed system in, eg a lamp made for this, no danger of chicks getting burned, and just more peace of mind.

Mine hatched the 21st and 22nd. Of the 2 with crooked feet/toes, one is perfectly fine now... can't tell it from the others. The other was more severe and a little spraddle legged too. She is in orthopedic booties right now. I have 15 healthy running around, 1 crippled, 2 that died hatching and 14 eggs I just walked out to the woods to dispose of under a big hemlock tree. I cracked open the non hatchers. 2 had quit very early on. One was fully developed (and pooped in the egg?) but never pipped. The rest looked like late quitters... maybe the power outage on day 17 or I think their air sacks were very large... maybe it was just too dry here for me to try a dry incubation. Anyway, here are a few of my mutt cuties:
