on day 3 of Lockdown, but probably only day 1 taking into account power outages, cold + dry house.
Happy so far with my 1st hatch...!!

I'm not sure if yall remember me telling you about my piece of crap turner that we didn't know wasn't working until a week before lockdown. Well. I went ahead and put 5 in lockdown and as of this morning, 2 days past due, we have one little chick pipping out. I'm so scared it is gonna come out deformed and we are gonna have to cull it. Wish it luck please.

I have people wanting more chicks from me than I can hatch. I already have 3 incubators running full steam. 1 full of BCM, Wellsummers, and Barred Rocks, The other full of Quail, EEs, and Salmon Faverolles and the 3rd one is my hatcher but i am thinking I might buy a turner for my hatcher and get it incubating too.

It is soooooooooooooooo cold out! I went out to check on all my little birds and give them some treats. Mama broody hopped off her nest and came a running.... and there was one of the cochin chicks pipped and zipped and trying to get the cap off the egg!!!

So the hatch has begun... and of course I forgot my camera!

Its like 38 degrees out today, so it may slow the rest from hatching... but tomorrow looks to be about 64?!

I will make a few more trips out in this nasty weather today to get pictures to share though... I promise!

Good luck for all those hatching today! Hope you get lots of cute little fluffy butts! Come on chicks!

I start lockdown tomorrow night, I have 5 out of 7 shipped eggs due to hatch early on the 31st, the other two were real early quitters, one had a totally shattered air cell.

I am hatching in a carton for the first time, I am trying it because the air cells on all but one were distorted. I hope they do better than my last hatch.

These are B/B/S Ameraucana's Up to now the development looks really good, the shells look really full, so they should be about ready.

I get so nervous during lock down! Waiting is so hard!!!

Today is day 22. We have 8 chicks and still about a dozen eggs with nothing happening that I can see. Candled some of the leftover eggs last night, and two were dead/sloshy and were removed. Don't want to mess with them too much. Kinda funny that none of my EE eggs ever hatch. They make it to lockdown, are totally full of chicks when we candle at lockdown, but they never hatch. I think I have bad luck with EEs.

I hope I have better luck with the WFBS eggs I paid an arm and a leg for.
