March Hatch-A-Long.( How is it gettting here so quick ? LOL )

I understand that!  Will probably do a few more batches of quail here to get some diversity and pic my favorites, but most are destined for the freezer.  Only keeping a dozen or so for breeding (3 boys with 4 girls each is the plan).  Getting some olive egger eggs for the Easter hatch a long, but at this point all chicks that I hatch this year will be sold, so not hatching a lot (I think, lol).  Glad you are getting your numbers well too!  Did you get yours locally or from your own or are they shipped?  I have thought of ordering some quail eggs to hatch but since they are so sensitive I'm not sure I want to risk shipping them.  Wondered how you acquired yours.  Hope all your 54 left hatch!!!!

Sorry, my eggs are Malines large fowl, not quail. :p Most of them are destined for freezer camp as well. I'm always interested in diversifying by trying new kinds of fowl. Looking into Muscovy ducks later this year. Someday would like to try quail or guinea fowl.

Well, my mama hen

decided today that she was tired of sitting on eggs. We brought her in the house with the eggs and put them in the cage. She tried to get interested, but was more into pestering the chicks. Took her outside and let her loose with the others and she was happy. Have the eggs in basket covered with shavings in front of heater. Now the 3 week old

chicks are sitting on the eggs. The eggs only have a week to go, so we will see what happens.

Where did you get them from? Can you get individual up close pics? This would help us identify them.
Here are some individuals. I bought them off of a guy that lives somewhere in California. I've tried to email him to get some pics of some of the possible parents, but he won't reply!

Great pics! They're gorgeous! I'd like to know too. :) Might have to wait until they feather out more to get a definitive answer. Maybe a bantam expert can help? :idunno

Cute pics, keep them coming!
My incubator got down to 26% humidity a couple times last night. Found it when we got home last night & again when i woke up this morning. I'm doing forced air. I'm not sure how they're going to do now :(
I'm trying to figure out how to keep my humidity stable. I had such a hard time keeping it stable last summer too. The first time I used it, the humidity did a pretty good job staying at 50%... it does a really good job keeping the temps stable. I'm thinking I just need to make another incubator (& use one as a hatcher). I have 30 eggs so far, rolling into day 2 tonight.

I run mine at that until day 18 and quite honestly a lot of times until I realize they've pipped...they do great!!
