Update on the eggs in my incubator... I would like to candle them all and know for sure! They're pretty much standing up in my Brinsea Mini Advance to make room for all of them. I've been having to hand turn them since there's more than 7. It would be so nice to candle them and take out the duds. I did candle a couple of them yesterday, & couldn't find any questionable ones. The few I candled all looked good, as much as I could tell. These eggs are much harder to see into. The EE shells are quite thick, but I was able to see into those better than our barred rock eggs since those are quite dark. I checked 2 EE & 2 BR and all looked to be developing. Why am I treating that like it's a bad thing? What am I going to do if they all continue to grow? I actually need a few duds so I can put my auto-turner back in please. Oh, and the eggs that need to quit, let them be the males too. Is that too much to ask?

It looks like part of the yolk sack that wasn't absorbed. How is the chick acting? It looks like it is already drying up. I would clean the area and put some neosporin on it and see what happens.
I took him to the vet college hospital, and they took him in for the night, saying it is an infection that most birds don't make it from, but of course most people don't take them in, so... I know he is alive this morning, since the vet called, but the exotic/wild bird specialist still has to examine him and they will call back when they have a decision on what to do next.

They are very expensive.

This is killing me..babies ever where! And pips every where. Congratulations to all that are hatching! Is there anyone that is going into lock down this weekend?
I think I'll be sharing pictures of babies when no one is here.

Pictures of your babies..I'm waiting to see fluffy babies. Patiently.

I had two broodys that had been egg stealing before I separated them so I have a chick here and there hatching in my garage and that is helping me pass the time while I wait on my peeps in the incubator. I will get some pics posted shortly.

Day 20 and someone has pipped internally. There's a tiny peeping coming from one of the eggs but it's maddening not knowing which one.

O, how right you are!!! I am already planning and on a waiting list for my next eggs and the eggs after that!!!! Sultans and Coronation Sussex next

.... and peafowl after that

I did prepair for this somewhat hehe as when I had my hubby build my current coop I had him built it for up to 50 chickens and in a design so that I can just keep adding coops on to either side ...pretty much forever
big_smile.png
.... and somehow I got myself to stop at 25 chickens last year!!! I think money had something to do with it

my hubby is a carpenter so we get alot of free extra stuff from job sites so all I have to do is motivate him...... like 3 months of convincing and then he does it all in one day.... so even now I am already puching for an 'add-on' the coop
yesss.gif
Just like we talked bout .... remember

That is great that your hubby is so motivated! For me, it is one day of convincing and three months of "getting it done".

Sounds like me too! My hubby asked me a couple of days ago, "So...exactly how many birds are running around here now?". Haha...I said, "Babe, I don't know and you don't wanna know either. It's best not to count.". Hehe

Wow. Thanks for the update. It is so hard to judge from pictures. It looked like a dried yolk sac to me. Poor little guy. I hope he makes it for you.
