Looks like the temps are up and I hear another chick chirping. I think I'm going to go ahead and put this one back in there as I'm exhausted.
A young splash SLW broody left the two, 2 day old, Ameracauna chicks she'd hatched. Could hear them crying all the way in the house. They were LOUD. Of course, it's still March and the ground is cold, but she would never just stop and let them warm up. She wouldn't let them on her back if she was eating. Or ever. They were just two days and the one I found on the ground, cold and unresponsive. I still had my 'bator on from a hatch I had going on and I put her in there right away. It took some time and every once in awhile I'd wrap her with a hot water bottle and just cuddle. The attention seemed to calm her a bit. I think.

That chick, now named "Diva" (thinks she should have best of the best. Wha...?? Where did that attitude come from??), is 4 weeks old and doing fabulous, as is her 'sister'. I first housed them with 3 ducklings I'd just hatched out and now I put them outside together during the day, but they have separate sleeping/eating quarters. They all hang out together - it's so cute!

I cross my fingers and I'll say a prayer this works for you. You'll know int he morning!!
