March Hatch-Along Thread- Come Hatch With Us!!!!!

Well march was an absolute failure. 43 eggs were set and only one hatched. Then the sole chick to hatch passes the following morning. I don't swear to much but I swear ill never try to use that incubator ever again. But not all is bad here. Great news actually!!! I have 4 broody hens. Two of my cornish, my Kraienkoppe, and Patty my Chantecler. All my updates will be in the April hatch along. Good riddance March.
Aww I am so sorry you had such a bad time of it!

We have 3 fluffy Ameraucana/Cochin chicks and 2 more that have been pipping for 10 hours now...We still have 20 eggs yet to hatch over the next 10 days..Our neighbor told us we should have put the eggs in the refridgerator and then put all the fertilized eggs in the incubator at one time...did we mess up?

I am into the night of day 21 and have nothing. No pips, no cheeps and no rocking either. The eggs were all doing great when I went into lockdown day 18. I couldn't take it anymore and quickly candled two eggs this morning (my Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance EX holds the temp and humidity super steady and I had no ext pips) and they are alive, but look more like day 17-18 and I KNOW they are at a full 21 days. I marked my calendar (and the calendar in my phone too) when I set them. There are 17 silkie eggs in there and I am going crazy! I thought silkies were notorious for hatching early but didn't dare hope for that...day 21 though? I want to see some fluffy butts! Please talk me down and tell me they should still be fine...
Hi,
I am unfamiliar with how humidity is set in your incubator...needs to be 60 to 70 the last three days..............
I am sure they are fine.I have late hatches frequently................so always leave my eggs for 25 days............Do you have a hydrometer?

Don't panic yet

You do not want to put them in the refrigerator, but you DO want to sterilize the bator as soon as these ones finish hatching to prevent bacteria from killing the eggs that still need to incubate. How do you plan on turning the eggs that still need to be turned while you're locked down?

Don't get too worried yet. I know that's easier said than done, sorry! I rarely have mine hatch on time, so I'm used to it... Will be keeping good thoughts for you & hoping all goes well

I do staggered hatches all the time, mine normally run 3-5 days apart tho & I have 2 incubators. I use 1 for days 1-18, then the other for lockdown/hatch. That way I can lockdown the eggs that are ready by themselves w/o bothering eggs that are not ready yet...
